SAD SAM PPP is a performance project that explores the final forty-eight hours of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s life through a dramaturgy of reversion. Taking the moment of death as its zero point, a chronology moving backwards in time reiterates different registers of possible Pasolinian bodies: the social being, the intellectual, and the private individual. His dead body is thus repeatedly reconstituted as a living body of resistance, thought, and intellectual impulse. By returning to life, Pasolini as a subject is released from the moment of his death as the central point of a martyr-like biography and re-established as homo faber, a living builder of ideas. With the director/performer guiding the collective body of the audience, the heavily burdened narrative of Pasolini’s death is, through a shared process, transposed from the register of historical biography into a collective act of vigil, remembrance, and the re-establishment of thought and resistance.
