Matija Ferlin is a Croatian theatre director, choreographer of ensemble dance works, and performer of his own solo performances. He graduated from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam and subsequently lived and worked in Berlin and Toronto.
After returning to his hometown of Pula, where he was born in 1982, he focused on researching and rearticulating different concepts of stage performance, collaborating with both actors and dancers. His artistic practice frequently extends beyond the performing arts through interdisciplinary collaborations in fields such as visual arts and film. From 2023 to 2026, he served as Artistic Director of the Istrian National Theatre in Pula, Croatia. He is also an Assistant Professor, teaching contemporary performance practices at various arts academies and educational institutions across Croatia. Ferlin has received numerous awards and recognitions for his choreographic and theatrical work, both in Croatia and internationally.
